Engagement Photo Session in Scottsdale, AZ, Included With Your Wedding Package
Your engagement session, included with every wedding package or booked on its own
Every IAZ Photo Studio wedding package includes a 1-hour pre-wedding photo session, and that session is your engagement session. Couples who are not booking a wedding package can book an engagement session on its own: Essential at $350 with 10 edited photos, Classic at $550 with 20 photos and a framed 16×20, or Signature at $750 with 30 photos and a framed 20×30.
What an engagement session with us is like
We meet you at one location for an hour (1.5 hours in Signature), walk and talk, and photograph the two of you in natural light, with a few posed portraits and the rest in movement. You see every available photo in your online gallery and download the ones included in your package; each delivered photo is edited by hand. The usual turnaround is 2 weeks.
If you booked a wedding package, the session also lets both of you meet the photographer before the wedding, so the portraits on the day go faster.
Where to take engagement photos in and near Scottsdale
- Old Town Scottsdale: brick storefronts, patios and string lights, best in the last hour before sunset.
- The Scottsdale Waterfront and the canal bridges: water, city lights and a walk between frames.
- Pinnacle Peak Park and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve: saguaros, granite and mountain sunsets. Both are City of Scottsdale parks that require a photography permit before the session; see the city's Pinnacle Peak Park photography permit page (opens in a new tab) and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve photography form (opens in a new tab). We check the permit before the date once you choose the spot.
- Your own place: the venue where you will marry, the park where you met, or your backyard.
There is no travel fee within 25 driving miles of Tempe, Arizona (I-10 and US-60); farther out, we quote the travel before you book. A session with more than one location stays within 5 driving miles of the spot where it starts. Permits and admission fees are not included.
Engagement session packages when booked on their own
A non-refundable $150 deposit reserves the session and is applied to the package. The balance is due 48 hours before the session.

Booking terms for sessions
- Reschedule with at least 72 hours' notice; the deposit transfers to one rescheduled session within 30 days.
- Weather rescheduling has no fee. Cancellations forfeit the deposit.
- Usual turnaround: 2 weeks. Rush delivery within 48 hours: $100.
- An adult must be present with anyone under 18.
Questions about engagement sessions in Scottsdale
When should we schedule the engagement session?
Two to four months before the wedding if you want the photos for invitations or a guest book. Outdoor sessions in Scottsdale are most comfortable from October to April; in summer we shoot at sunrise or the last hour of light.
Can we bring our dog or a second outfit?
Yes to both. An outfit change fits inside the hour if the location has somewhere to change. A second location is $100.
Do you need a permit for Old Town?
Walking sessions on public sidewalks normally need no permit; parks and preserves do. We check before the date.
Can we get all the photos from the session?
Yes. All deliverable photos from a session start at $250 on top of the package.
